The reason he uses a design that requires the electrical connections to me made directly between the bare copper wire and the stainless array is because using stainless steel bars or bolts was drawing too much amperage due to the high resistance. That made it inefficient. He also tried many other materials like stainless wire mesh and solid stainless steel plates but none of them worked as well as the perforated stainless.

I have seen one unit that used twisted stainless steel wire for the electrode material in a small mason jar full of baking soda and distilled water. It also used an aerator agitator to increase the activity of the bubbles. The owner claimed a 50 percent increase in gas mileage on his full size Bronco...He went from 11 to 17 mpg.

These things are designed to hold water and seal with an o ring. They even have ready made inlet and outlet ports that are threaded and accept standard plumbing hardware. You can get one at any lowes, home depot, or hardware store.

You need for your container to be see thru. PVC designs work ok but they require a sight tube to know when to refill and the only way to observe the hydrogen making action is with the lid off. that is not very practical and certainly not as easy as just being able to see bubbles right thru the see thru hydrogen generator water filter housing.

So it's really called HHO gas and it is also called Browns Gas. So, yes we're making Hydrogen, but it's technically called HHO. Two molecules of Hydrogen with one molecule of Oxygen. We need to make this system safe. Yes Hydrogen is explosive. It makes a big boom. So we want to be real careful. Now, there's a number of things that we do to make it safe. One, we have a check valve here. You might not recognize that valve it comes off a oxyfuel torch. It's a one way valve. This prevents backwards flow. In order to get maximum protection you actually would need a flashback arrestor. If you decide to build a homemade hydrogen generator like this, you can use only one water filter housing and just omit the extra wiring. In most designs the negative and positive connections do not matter. I am not sure if it matters with the stainless steel plate array design he describes.In any event, the goal of any homemade hydrogen conversion kit is to produce as much hho hydrogen gas as possible and to draw as few amps as possible.. We want a high output hydrogen generator that pulls low amps. It will not help to produce hydrogen and improve gas mileage of your car if you are killing alternators every 3 months.

Charging the system just means filling it with water and adding baking soda.whichever electrode design you use, the electrodes must be in the solution to produce hydrogen hho gas. It is interesting that you can fill the container with water and turn on the power and everything is energized but it will not be pulling any amperage. But once you add the baking soda or other catalyst like sodium hydroxide, everything changes and the amperage draw increases. I have seen other videos where the amperage draw rose to over 40 amps. That is way too much. You will need to experiment to determine the right amount of baking soda that produces plenty of hho, but stays cool enough and still makes hydrogen hho.

Getting too hot is also a problem and some designs even call for a water coolant design. That is too complicated. Just adjust the baking soda.

Another design that uses a vent tube and a aerator valve and that pulls in air bubbles and helps keep the solution cooler.

How to Hook Up the Charger to Make Hydrogen

A bubbler is a water barrier safety device that will prevent any backfire from reaching the hydrogen generators.I dont really understand the concept of having a bubbler attached right next to the hydrogen generator because if it ignites, it is likely to ignite the hydrogen generator as well. But one thing the bubbler will accomplish is to ensure that no electrolyte solution gets sucked into your intake. It probably wouldn't hurt anything much because it would be burned up so quickly but baking soda might not help the inside of your cars engine. I dont think they test for that sort of thing.

In units that are built from pvc, a see thru bubbler would be very helpful to ensure that the generator was working properly. And for large hydrogen generators, it would be better for a bubbler to be located a few feet away from the generator in case it ignited.

How to Make Hydrogen

Hydrogen is the most common element in the universe. It is only fitting that it would turn out to be an answer to our energy problems and pollution issues.

A bubbler is a device that uses water as a safety barrier to fuel gasses. Almost anything could be used from a clear piece of polycarbonate tubing, to a 2 liter coke bottle. There is no need for heavy construction because the bubbler does not operate under heat or pressure. The bubbler is filled about 3/4 full with plain water and a tube is run from the hho generator to the bubbler that connects to another tube that is stuck down into the very bottom of the bubbler so that the flammable hho gas bubbles up from the bottom and thru the water. The gas then is piped out the top thru another hose that is plumbed into the cars fuel system. any flashback will stop at the water barrier and will protect the hydrogen generator from ignition.

How Water & Electrolytes are Used to Make Hydrogen

There are several options when it comes to choosing an electrolyte solution. Baking soda is the safest.

Some manuals recommend using a product that is used to unclog drains. Others recommend using red devil lye which is caustic soda.

These last 2 are pretty aggressive and will definitely attack the aluminum parts in your engine if they get sucked in. Stick with baking soda. It is the most often recommended for an electrolyte in hho generators.

Use distilled water. Using tap water works but you will end up replacing components more often because when you use tap water, the heavy minerals and chlorine just make the process more corrosive to the stainless steel parts and can contaminate the water solution so much that it quits working and will need to be changed. That is just extra work and since distilled water is about a dollar a gallon, cost will not be a factor.I have heard of people driving several tank fulls of gas before needed to add water to their hho generator. You dont want to have to change out stainless components any more often than necessary either.

You dont need to use the stainless steel array he speaks of either, you can use stainless steel welding wire like the water4gas design. This design pulls less amperage than other designs. I like the idea of using welding wire. 316L stainless wire in 1/16 diameter is very corrosion resistant and easy to obtain. Any welding supply store will be able to get it for you and should even have it on the shelf.A water filter housing can be found at lowes, home depot, or any hardware store. I have seen them advertised on ebay for about 20 bucks each.

Using Stainless Steel Arrays to Make Hydrogen

if you decide to follow this design, pay close attention to the instructions on using tool dip protective coating to seal off the connections from the electrolyte solution.Even though baking soda is pretty mild compared to other electrolyte choices, when you run electrical current thru the solution it if very corrosive to copper aluminum and carbon steel. Sealing off the connections is absolutely important, if you dont get them sealed, they will corrode, then they will get hot, and eventually cause the gas to explode. thats bad.

Just use stainless welding wire instead of this stainless steel array and you wont have to worry about dipping the copper connections in tool dip to protect the copper connections from corrosion.
